Our vision is that empowered women everywhere lead healthy lives, soar in their careers and make a difference in the world.

Why is the empowerment of women important?

  • Empowering women in the workplace leads to increased innovation, higher employee satisfaction and retention, and improved overall organisational success. It also contributes to a more diverse and inclusive work environment, enhances productivity, and fosters better work-life balance for employees, particularly women. Ultimately, empowering women in the workplace is essential for promoting gender equality and creating a more just and equitable society.
  • Research suggests that companies with more women in leadership positions tend to have higher profitability.
  • Empowering women has been linked to increased economic growth and poverty reduction.
  • Empowering women can boost economic growth by increasing the number of educated and skilled workers, stimulating innovation, and expanding markets.
  • Empowered women are more likely to advocate for social change and participate in political decision-making, leading to more inclusive and equitable societies.

Yet..

  • Women are still held back in life, work, and the world due to a combination of societal expectations, discrimination, and structural inequalities. These factors create barriers to opportunities, limit earning potential, and contribute to persistent gender disparities.
  • Women are often underrepresented in leadership roles, particularly in STEM fields, and the percentage of women in managerial positions is lower than men despite women are now earning a majority of graduate degrees in several fields.
  • Women are underrepresented in positions of power and decision-making, which can limit their ability to shape policies and advocate for their rights.
  • Societal expectations often place disproportionate burdens on women in managing both work and family responsibilities, hindering career advancement and leading to work-related stress.
  • Women may face limited access to networks, mentorship and professional development resources.
  • Traditional gender roles often dictate expectations about women’s roles in the family and society, impacting their choices and aspirations in education and career.
  • The lack of affordable childcare and family care options can hinder women’s ability to participate fully in the workforce.

Now what?

At Aspire, we provide women with the empowerment tools, network and role models that make a difference to themselves and others they influence and impact in their lives, work and wider world. We do this through our women’s leadership conferences, events and programmes. This enables women the time, space and gender specific tools to learn, mobilise and create a multiplier effect of change.
